Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive and effective cosmetic procedure that involves puncturing the skin with small, sterile needles to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. These tiny micro wounds stimulate the body's natural healing processes and can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and other skin imperfections.

Treatment

Prior to your microneedling treatment, a numbing cream is applied to the skin to reduce discomfort. Your provider then uses a handheld device with a cluster of microneedles to create small, controlled injuries to the skin's surface. The depth of the needles is adjusted depending on the specific areas being treated and the patient's skin type.

Patients may experience some redness and swelling during the treatment. However, most individuals go back to resume regular activities immediately following the procedure.

Over time, as collagen and elastin production increase, the skin's texture and tone can improve, with a smoother, tighter, and more youthful appearance. Depending on individual patient needs and goals, Dr. Lenzy may recommend additional microneedling treatments to achieve optimal results.

Microneedling with PRP is a cosmetic treatment that involves using a device to create small punctures in the skin and then applying platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to the area. PRP is made from your own blood, which is processed to concentrate the platelets and other growth factors. Once applied to the skin, the PRP boosts collagen production, tightens pores, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and scars. The microneedling process essentially creates small injuries to the skin that stimulate the body's natural healing response, which further enhances the effects of the PRP. The result is smoother, clearer, and more youthful-looking skin.

Microneedling at Lenzy Dermatology is safe, quick, and relatively painless, and can provide longer-lasting results than many other cosmetic treatments.
