LENZY DERMATOLOGY STUDENT GAP YEAR INTERNSHIP

Lenzy Dermatology is currently accepting applications for its paid Gap Year Internship Program for students seeking meaningful clinical and administrative experience before medical school or while preparing for their next stage of medical education.

This is a full-time gap year opportunity. Lenzy Dermatology is seeking a student who can make a substantial, consistent commitment to the practice throughout their gap year. This position is not intended for applicants seeking only a few hours per week or occasional availability.

Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dermatology practice and develop a deeper understanding of patient care and clinical operations. Depending on training and responsibilities, experiences may include:

  • Scheduling and coordinating medical appointments

  • Learning the basics of insurance verification and patient eligibility

  • Recording and updating patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

  • Assisting with prescription-related administrative processes

  • Communicating professionally with patients regarding appointments, laboratory results, and follow-up care

  • Preparing and assisting with dermatologic procedures, including biopsies and surgical excisions

  • Observing and assisting with laser and cosmetic dermatology procedures, as appropriate

  • Supporting the clinical and administrative team in the day-to-day operations of a dermatology practice

  • Developing professional communication, teamwork, and patient-service skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have completed, or be on track to complete, an undergraduate Bachelor's Degree before or at the start of the internship

  • Strong interest in pursuing medical school, healthcare, dermatology, or a related medical field

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Professional, dependable, organized, and team-oriented

  • Comfortable interacting with patients and working in a fast-paced medical environment

  • Willingness to learn both clinical and administrative aspects of dermatology

  • Ability and willingness to commit to a full-time internship schedule throughout the gap year

  • Applicants seeking only limited, occasional, or part-time availability will not be considered for this opportunity

  • Current availability is preferred, as Lenzy Dermatology is looking to fill the position as soon as possible

  • Applicants may be considered for Gap Year Internship opportunities extending through 2027 or as far in advance as their academic plans allow

TRAINING & ONBOARDING

Because Lenzy Dermatology is currently seeking an intern to join the practice, applicants will not be required to complete the standard four-month unpaid orientation prior to beginning the internship.

The selected intern will receive appropriate training and onboarding based on the needs of the practice and will transition into the internship responsibilities as training is completed.

INTERNSHIP PERIOD

The Gap Year Internship is generally structured around a June-to-May academic cycle, but Lenzy Dermatology is currently accepting applicants who are available to begin as soon as possible and may accommodate students whose gap-year plans extend through 2027, depending on availability and practice needs.
